Thanksgiving Point

On Tuesday, Marla and I took the boys out to the farm at Thanksgiving Point for $2 Tuesday.  We got there about 10 minutes before it opened, and there was already a line wrapped around the entrance.... Hmm.  We both decided that next time we'd fork over the few extra dollars and go on a Wednesday!  Regardless of the crowds and the heat, the boys had a great time and the highlight of the day had to be the pony ride.  After waiting in line for over an hour, we were all hot, sweaty, and tired... but it was totally worth it to see those smiles!

These two are great friends!  So cute that they wanted to hold hands... helped me out from chasing Owen the whole time!

Yes, that is a backpack with a leash.  At 9 months pregnant it is a necessity when I take my little runner out to public places.  However, I got a little lax and took of the leash after awhile.  Bad mistake... shortly after this photo he took off running and it took me about 5 minutes to catch up to him.  All the while, other moms were pointing me in the right direction.  "Does anyone have a little boy with a dog backpack?  He went that way!"  Thanks ladies...

Taking a quick break for some fruit snacks.  Look at those red cheeks-- it was hot!

So excited for his first pony ride.  He kept saying "Hi horsey!", petting it, bending down to give it a hug.  It was pretty adorable!

Afterwards, we headed to the car, grabbed some ice cream on the way home, and called it a day.

Uncle Ross

Owen loves all of his aunts & uncles.  He knows them all by name, and loves to talk about them all the time.  He is always excited to talk to them on the phone, or better yet... see them!  Sunday dinners with the Hardcastles are his favorite because all his best buds are there!  Even though we don't get to see my family near as much, he still knows and loves all of them.  He especially got to know Uncle Ross this last year, since he was at BYU and would spend weekends with us every so often.

Last Wednesday Uncle Ross became Elder Urry, as he went into the MTC ready to serve the people in Tuscon, AZ.  Owen and I got the chance to drop him off at the MTC.  Afterwards, I asked Owen where Ross went and he replied "Ross... bye bye".  He knew he was off on a new adventure.

Owen & Ross right before we headed out

After a quick stop at the Missionary Mall, we were on our way.
(Owen must have been checking out Arizona on the map...)

Ross was so excited that his host was a good friend from the dorms.  I'm sure that made the initial shock of the MTC that much easier for him.

Crazy to think that Owen will be 4 (four?!) when he gets back, and that he won't get to meet our newest little guy until he's 2. Wow!

We are so proud of Ross. He has had his share of health issues, that could have easily given him a pass from serving, but he wanted to serve and so that's what he's doing!

Herriman Pond

Last night we headed over to the Herriman Pond to let Owen feed the ducks.  Well, when we pulled in we quickly saw a sign that said "Please do not feed the ducks".  Hmmm... don't know how I missed that last time.  Regardless, Owen was excited to look at the ducks, and we also watched some people catch a few fish.  It was a beautiful summer night!

 This kid loves his Daddy!

Watching the ducks

Imagine that, a rock in both hands!

After the pond, we went over to the playground and let Owen play around for while.  This isn't the best picture, but I had to document Owen's red cheeks (hard to see in this picture).  It's a constant sight while he's playing outside.  He was having so much fun, he didn't want to leave.  However, a promise of ice cream quickly changed that.  Three ice cream cones later, we were all happy! YUM!

Snowbird Saturday

Last Saturday we had a free morning so we decided to venture up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Snowbird for a picnic lunch and a little "hiking".  (More like walking with this pregnant lady and an almost 2 year old!)  I was surprised how green it was, and the weather was 20 degrees cooler than down in the valley... so much more enjoyable!

Have you noticed a trend in these pictures?  That would be Owen not looking at the camera, too much going on to hold still for even .5 seconds.

"Cheeeeese"

He loved finding rocks and throwing them into the stream.

I was so glad we decided to go up and explore.  (I haven't been feeling up to much of anything these days!)  It was the perfect Saturday morning activity.

Temple Date

For the past couple months our ward has had a Relief Society temple day once a month. The YW volunteered babysitting so I was able to go on my own a few times. What a treat! Today I decided to take Owen and just walk around, take pictures, and talk about the temple.

He loved it! Well, mostly he loved the water fountain, but he really did enjoy walking around 'Jesus's House' and pointing to 'Mowoni'. However, this is the same kid who sleeps with a framed picture of the temple and makes us sing it every night before he goes to bed... So are we really surprised?
