Halloween 2010

(Lots of posts today... see the others below for more pictures of my cute baby!)

Yesterday I took Owen to visit Brad at work for their annual Halloween activity.  Owen didn't do much trick or treating because he was too busy looking cute!

The cutest little frog I've ever seen!

We also went to the pumpkin patch to celebrate Owen's first Halloween.  Yep, we are first time parents and can't pass up any and all photo-ops!

Walking buddy

This picture was too cute not to share.  Owen was a little fussy as we started our walk, so I was prepared for the worst, but as I was getting ready to take a picture to send to Brad he gave me the cutest grin!  I just love him!

Ready for church!

2 months old and ready to pass the sacrament :)  I made this onesie, and although the tie is a little big, he still looks so handsome!

2 months?!

I'm not sure how it happened, but I blinked and Owen is now 2 months old!  He is as sweet as ever and loves to pull faces, our favorite being his open mouth grin.  It just melts me!  He is sleeping better at night-- which has helped me out a lot.  He will sleep from 10-6, waking up once around 3 to eat.  I have tried all my tricks, and it just seems as though 6 is his wake up call because he never sleeps past it!  Luckily, once he eats and "plays" for a bit (usually lying on our bed and staring at the light...) he will go back down for about 2 hours.  And I usually join him!  We start our day around 9 and it is a combination of eating, napping (for him), playing, cleaning, and running errands.  Oh, and laundry.  I think our laundry has increased 5x with a baby!  We are still walking every morning, but with snow two days this past week I was rudely reminded that those days are shortly coming to an end.

Here are some random pictures from the past month:

Staring at the light again

 He loves bathtime now!

 And loves to be outside

Playing with mom

He is so cute when he sleeps (okay he's so cute all the time, but especially when he sleeps!)

He absolutely loves to stare at this picture of Christ.  If you are holding him on this couch, he looks at it the whole time.

Just waking up... a little groggy

Playing with Dad-- love that belly!

One month old!

Our sweet Owen turned one month old on Sunday--  I can't believe it.  Funny how the month flew by, but the sleepless nights sometimes crawled by!  Now that we have figured out his eating issues and are supplementing his feedings with formula, he is a very happy baby.  He still hates to have his diaper changed and cries the whole time.  Owen has been alert since day one and that hasn't changed one bit.  He has to know what is going on at all times.  We went to Brad's volleyball game last night and the whole time he was wide-eyed and looking around mesmerized by the bright lights and loud noises.  He loves to give us big, gummy smiles... especially while sleeping and we think it is absolutely the cutest thing ever.  He loves to be outside and we really enjoy our evening walks.  He is a great napper during the day and (on a good night) will sleep 3 hours at a time at night.   We just love him to pieces!  Oh, and yes, his hair is still red :)

Never a dull moment...

As if moving, buying a house, starting a new job, and having a baby wasn't enough excitement for the past 2 months, let's add wildfire & evacuation to the list.....

Two weeks ago, as we pulled out of our driveway to head to dinner at Brad's parent's house we noticed smoke coming from the mountain directly south of us. We didn't think much about it, ate dinner and drove back home about 2 1/2 hours later. By then, the fire had gotten much worse and we could actually see flames at the top of the mountain. Brad started to get serious about the fire after he saw a cars lined up in front of our house (which is not on a busy street) trying to leave the city. We quickly packed up the essentials (diapers, formula, change of clothes, pictures, computer, backup hard drive, etc.) but when we went to start the car-- the same car we had just driven an hour before-- it wouldn't start! Are you kidding me!? The ignition wouldn't even turn over, it was completely dead. Luckily, Brad's car (11 years old with 208K miles on it!) did start, so we transferred everything over and drove back to his parents house for the night.

Turns out the blaze started from a military machine gun drill at Camp Williams and 40mph winds created a very fast-moving fire that eventually surrounded Herriman, where we just purchased our home 1 month ago! In the end, only 3 homes were destroyed, which was a miracle considering they estimated it could reach up to 100. Once we returned home, we found all to be well. We just need to air out the house... oh, and buy a new battery for my car!

Never a dull moment these last few months.

Newborn Pictures

When Owen was 2 weeks old we took newborn photos.  We thought we timed it perfectly-- right after he ate so that he would be calm and sleep through the shoot.  Wrong!  He refused to sleep, and cried most of the time!  Luckily we had a very patient photographer and we still managed to get some good shots.
