Sunny San Diego!

At the beginning of February (I know, I'm way behind) we took a little getaway to San Diego.  It came at the perfect time-- Utah was in the teens when we left, and San Diego was in the 70's.  Brad was only able to stay for a few days, then Owen and I got to stay and play for another week.  It was a much needed vacation and I know my family loved seeing us Owen.  :)

On the first afternoon Brad and I took a drive out to Julian-- just the two of us!  The rest of the family had a great time entertaining Owen while we were gone.  We walked around for a short time (too windy) and then had lunch at the Miner's Diner.  It was a fun afternoon.

When we got back we let Owen experience his first swing, and he loved it!  This was quickly followed by his first taste of an orange, also a hit!  We were spoiled with fresh squeezed orange juice & fresh avocados all trip.  Heaven, I tell you!

The next day we ventured out to La Jolla Shores.  You would have thought we were staying for a few days instead of just a few hours by how much stuff we brought with us.  Babies have so much stuff!

First order of business was sunscreen.  Poor Owen inherited his momma's fair skin.

Next order of business, lunch!

And finally time to test out the water.  Too cold for Owen's liking (proof is on the video camera) but he did love the sand in his toes (and in just about everything else too: fingers, ears, diaper...)

By that time Owen was pooped, so he napped for a bit and then we called it a day.

The rest of the trip was filled playing with family, visiting friends and shopping...plenty of shopping! We got to visit our good friends the Andrews and they treated us to a delicious fondue dinner.  After dinner Owen treated us to a full out screaming fit.  Fun! :)

Owen got to meet his Great Grandma & Gpa Urry.  We were glad we got to see them, even for a short visit, while we were there.

We took a fun hike to a waterfall near Lake Hodges.  Poor Grant broke out with poison oak about 2 weeks later.  It was Brad's fault Grant!! :)

Lunch date with my dad & Taryn

Dress up time with Taryn.   This is what it would be like if you had an older sister, Owen.   Be grateful!

Baseball with the boys.  Much more exciting for Brad than the "invisible" baseball of yester-year.

Just writing this post makes me want to jump on a plane and head back.  We had a great time & miss everyone already!

5 months!

Owen turned 5 months while we were in San Diego.  Not a shabby way to celebrate being 42% of a year old!

He looks less like a baby and more like a little boy each day.  Stop growing so fast Owen!

Owen's Favorites

I think my blog audience has died... that's what I get for posting the same pictures on Facebook, I guess!   Regardless, here are some new fun pictures of "Owen's favorites".

Owen's favorite place to go during the day: outside!  It was a beautiful day, so we decided to take a family walk.  Here he is all bundled up and ready to go.

Owen's current favorite toy: his hands (see above) and his activity center

Owen's favorite outfit: nothing!  This kid (like most) loves to be naked!

Owen's favorite TV channel: ESPN.  Here he is catching a few updates while wearing his "favorite" outfit.  Nothing cuter than a naked baby!

Owen's favorite bath toy:  The bright yellow cup we use to pour water over him.  He has been eying it for a few weeks now and is finally able to grab it and "eat" it.

Owen's favorite basketball team:  The Utah Jazz just like dad!  Here he is sporting some Jazz pride.  Even though they have been stinking it up on the court lately, we think they'll come back around.

4 months!

Owen turned 4 months on January 3.  He is growing up way too fast!  He still has the cutest personality and will smile on a dime.  He has been drooling like crazy for the past month and everything goes into his mouth-- bibs, toys, hands, fabric, mom's hair... everything!  This last week he was overly fussy, so I thought he might be trying to cut a tooth.  Yesterday in church I found a sharp white object in his mouth.  Seems a little early, but it was there!

Recently he's found his feet and loves to play with them.   He is getting more wiggly, making diaper changes more of a challenge.  He is now taking all naps in his crib, soothing himself to sleep, and waking up "talking" not crying.  He sleeps 12 hours at night, only waking up once for a quick feeding.  He loves it when mommy sings to him & when daddy watches sports center with him.  He is happy, healthy, and such a joy.

4 month stats:  Weight: 15 lb, 5 oz (59%)      Height: 25 1/2 in (68%)

Everything goes in the mouth!

So much for a mommy & me photo...

 Look at that concentration!

Excited for rice cereal

 So far so good...

He didn't love it, but he didn't hate it either.  I'd call that a success.

Love those blue eyes!

Anniversary Getaway

On December 29, Brad and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary!  His parents were wonderful enough to watch Owen overnight (!) so we could have a short getaway.

Wednesday night we dropped Owen off & headed downtown for dinner at The Melting Pot, which was fabulous.  We ordered all 3 courses-- cheese, meat, and chocolate.  It was delicious!

We ordered the original chocolate fondue, which has pieces of crunchy peanut butter mixed in with the milk chocolate.  I was in chocolate heaven!

Thursday we attended a temple session at the Salt Lake Temple, went to lunch, did a little shopping, and wrapped up the day with a movie.  It was so nice to have a little one-on-one time with my hubby!

But we missed our Owen.  Unfortunately, I don't think the same could be said about Owen missing us!  He had a wonderful time being waited on by his grandparents and aunt and uncles.  (This kid is spoiled!)  He was having so much fun that he didn't want to leave.

Sorry Owen, but all good things must come to an end.
"Please let me stay, mom.  Please!"

I don't know who had a better time, us or Owen.  Safe to say we all enjoyed ourselves!
