Memories!

I was going through old family pictures to add to a collage for my Grandparent's upcoming 60th wedding anniversary and found these gems. I couldn't resist sharing them! The first is my parents on their wedding day, and the rest are just old family photos. Sorry Grant, Luke, and Taryn you are too young to make the cut!! Enjoy!

As promised... quick recap

Last weekend I flew home for my best friend Tonya's wedding. She was beautiful, the wedding was beautiful, and the weather was beautiful!! It was nice to see my siblings since I'm not sure when the next time I will see them will be.... sad! It was just a teaser with my parents because they are coming up here in just 3 days and Brad and I will spend an entire week with them, Bryant, and Brad's parents on our fabulous cruise.

With the move in July, Brad's brother's wedding in July, and my brother's mission call TBA our summer plans are a little crazy, but I'm hoping we can sneak another trip to Escondido in there somewhere.

And don't worry-- Brad kept plenty busy here in Provo. He and his brother Spencer watched the Jazz game, went frisbee golfing, watched the BYU football scrimmage, ate Korean food, did temple baptisms, and ate lots of junk food. Needless to say, we both had successfully fun weekends!

Quick Update

Considering there hasn't been anything written for a month, I thought I'd fill everyone in quickly on our lives currently.
We are in the middle of finals week!!! Eeek! Brad has one left and I have two... and then we graduate!!!
Thursday is Commencement and Elder Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve is the speaker. Friday is Convocation, when we actually 'walk' and get our diplomas. My parents and Bryant along with Brad's parents will be here for that. Brad and I got special permission to have me walk with his college so we get to walk together! How exciting!
Saturday we leave, along with the family members previously listed ;), for our cruise to the Caribbean!! We will be going to Cozumel, Honduras, Grand Cayman, and Belize.

Needless to say it is going to be a crazy busy week but an exciting one at that!!

Lonely, oh so Lonely.

Yes, that's right I am home alone this weekend! Brad decided to go up to the Green River with his dad and a couple of friends for a flyfishing weekend adventure. They left yesterday morning at 5:00 am and will get back tonight around 10 (I'm hoping!). Needless to say, it's really quiet around here! I spent my Friday night doing homework, watching a few Friends episodes, and going to the gym. I was one of 4 people in the gym, but that is to be expected on a Friday night. One of the girls there is dating Brad's friend, so I asked her what she was doing at the gym on a Friday night. Her response? "Lyn (her boy) is out of town." So apparently, working out is what girls do when they are alone, bored, and sick of doing homework!
We do have a bit of exciting news on the San Francisco front... we sat down last Sunday and decided to contact a Bishop from the area we have been looking at on the peninsula. So we pulled up LDS.org and put in San Mateo, CA. Well, the only thing that came up was a Tongan branch... hmmm that won't work. So then we put in San Bruno, CA which is really close, and all we got was a Spanish ward. Okay, this wasn't working out too well. Brad decided to call the Spanish ward anyways, and whoever answered the phone was able to give us the number of the building coordinator. About 3 calls later, we were talking with the Bishop's wife of a ward in Foster City, CA. They are in their early 30's and she was very nice and helpful to us- demanding that we move into their ward. She actually put us in contact with a woman in the ward who is an apartment manager for some apartments in Burlingame, CA. (It is still weird for us to hear people in 3 different cities say they are in the same ward. In Provo, the next block over is a different ward!) The woman was very helpful, sent us some pictures, and now we are pretty sure that's where we are going to sign!
The complex is in a great, safe location, it is close to the airport (for visitors!), it is a month-to-month situation (so no 1 year contract has to be agreed to), and most importantly-- we can afford it!! Rent will only be $950 a month for a one bedroom, compared to the $1400/month everything else has been. We are so excited!!!

Last night was the final home basketball game of the season. That, coupled with the fact that Brad has an old mission buddy playing on the other team, made it quite easy for Brad and I to decide to go. (And it got me out of my night class 30 minutes early! WooHoo)

The game was great and entertaining, but I'd have to say my favorite part of the night was the halftime performance. You can't quite tell in the picture, but this was the entertainment- Junior Jazz basketball by some 8 year old boys. These boys were amazing! And from where we were sitting they looked more like there were the size of 4 or 5 year olds. The best part of their 5 minute game was the very first play by the white team: their "point guard" #4 dribbled the ball down the whole court and then hurled the ball sideways/over his head from the 3 point line. I was thinking "What is he doing"... but he proved me wrong and made the 3 pointer!! And they didn't even lower the basket at all! The entire crowd was cheering. It was great. #4 immediately became my favorite because not only did he look like my little brother Luke, but he also has "mad skills".

To top off the night our Cougars won-- keeping their home winning streak alive at 47 games. First in the nation! And after the game we got to go down and see Travis Bunker, Brad's mission buddy!

The rest of our action-packed weekend!

On Saturday Brad and I both had early mornings, but he beat me. He was up at 5:30 am to go fly fishing with a couple of friends from the ward. They went to the Provo river and fished for about 4 hours. Besides it being bitter cold and Brad "wanting to cut off his hands for the first 2 hours", they had a great time!

I got up early (7:00 am- hey, on a Saturday that's early!) and studied for a test that I had to take. Then I went to a baby shower for an old roommate of mine and had a great time with friends that I don't get to see nearly as often as I would like.
On Sunday we went with Brad's family up to Garland, UT for the baby blessing of Candace's (Brad's cousin) baby Elizabeth. It was another early morning that started at 6:00 am but we had a great time, and the weather was beautiful which helped make the long car ride pass by quicker.

Brad and I are finally into March and graduation is quickly approaching! We were measured for our caps and gowns last week and only have 31 days of school left. I am getting anxious to finish, but still waiting to find out if I got into the Dental Hygiene Program. Cross your fingers!!

Dinner Date!

I have been wanting to make homemade pizzas for I don't know how long, and we finally did it on Friday! It started off a little rocky, with the pizza crust mix that I bought only making about half of what we needed, but I found a recipe in my cookbook that we used for the 2nd pizza. We did canadian bacon and pineapple pizza & a mushroom, sausage, onion, and red pepper pizza. They were so yummy and I think that I am addicted now. The second half of our stay-at-home date was to watch the Jazz play, but it was a stinker of a game so we put on a movie instead.

Happy Up-Coming Valentines!

We had an enrichment activity last week and we made these adorable Valentine blocks! Our wonderful enrichment counselor put the idea together herself, and then all I did was paint, glue, cut, and copy her pattern! They turned out so cute! I am always amazed with how creative people can be in putting together new crafts. I definitely didn't get that gene!

Nothing too much to update with us here in Provo. Brad is sick right now, and has been for a couple of days. He's missed school and work- that's when I know it's bad. Get this: last night he spent the night between the bed, bathroom, and couch. He even threw up (sorry if that is too much info), and did I know anything about it? No! I slept soundly through the night, until I woke up this morning and he told me. What a horrible wife! The doctor said it's a bad virus, with a possible sinus infection, so we got some meds for him... but I secretly think it's the flu. I got my flu shot this winter, but did Brad, no?! He didn't "need" one. Wonder if he still thinks that...

We were looking forward to a Jazz, pizza, and ice-cream party tonight with some friends. Guess that won't be happening. Oh well, tis the season, right?

January Catch Up

Nothing too exciting going on here, but I figured since some poeple do like to hear about what is going on with our life- I better think of something to put on here... so here goes:

Brad and I started our last semester of undergraduate schooling on January 7. So far, the semester isn't treating us too bad. I don't know if it is because our course load is a little lighter, or if we are just more motivated to push to the end and get done! Maybe a little of both? Brad's classes require a lot of reading this semester, which is different that the past couple of years in the Business school, which generally focus on group projects. So Brad is trying to get used to that. I am taking 4 Nutrition classes- finally! I feel like I have taken every science, physics, chemistry, etc. class possible and now I'm finally getting the nutrition. One of my classes is called "Nutrition through the Life Cycle" and we learn about nutritional requirements for women during pregnancy, for small children, for elderly, you get the idea. It has been quite interesting so far and I am really enjoying all that we are learning.

With this semester, comes later classes. This has allowed me to go the the gym every morning. And with three weeks under my belt, I have only missed going on one day! That's pretty good! I'm sure most people in the gym wonder why I even go, because since my back surgery I am pretty limited in what I can do. I walk on the treadmill, lift *light* weights, and do some core strengthening stretches, along with the occassional bike. Even though I'm not the sweatiest girl when I'm finished, I feel a lot better now that I'm going and getting into better shape.

One bit of exciting news is that Brad got his OFFICIAL starting date for his new job last night. July 22 is the big day!!!! We are constantly looking at housing online to try and get as good of a picture of what there is and what we want before we actually go to visit. Besides the ridiculous amount of money rent costs, we are really excited for for the adventure that awaits us in San Fran. I mailed in my dental hygiene application last week. I won't hear until about April if I've been accepted, and they may not even accept my application because of a 3 credit course I took, instead of their required 4 credit course. I'm crossing my fingers that all will go well, but I know that whatever happens is what the Lord wants for me. It's just hard not knowing yet!

Well, with this weekend comes a Jazz basketball game, a BYU men's volleyball game, Brad's intramural basketball game, and a Sunday visit up to Brad's family... with a lot of homework intermixed.

We are lucky to be healthy, happy, and blessed with such great family and friends. Thank you for all of your love and support as we get ready for this next stage in our life!
